At your first appointment, a complete examination is
performed by the orthodontist, Dr. Hirsh, x-rays may be taken if indicated, and diagnosis and a treatment plan are provided in most cases. The appointment may take up to one hour in length.
Financial arrangements can be made, and often treatment can begin.
Subsequent appointments vary in length depending upon
procedures needed by each patient. For example, a full banding appointment might require over an hour but a minor adjustment may take 15 minutes. Adjustments are normally scheduled for
afternoon appointments while bandings require attention in the morning or early afternoon.
The newest "instrument" in the band is INVISALIGN which has been receiving rave
"reviews" among adult patients. The invisible plastic trays are worn over the teeth to gradually improve their positions.
TWO PHASE "DUET" ...
The goal of FIRST PHASE TREATMENT is to develop the
jaw size in order to accommodate all permanent teeth and to match the upper and lower jaws to each other. Children over 6 years old are candidates for early orthodontic treatment because
Dr. Hirsh can work with their growth while improving their teeth. He's even helped some 3 year olds. A variety of fixed and removable appliances are available.
After a resting period and after all permanent teeth
have erupted, the SECOND PHASE TREATMENT requires braces where each tooth is "fine tuned" to create "harmony" with lips, tongue, teeth, and facial balance.
