After two years in the Air Force Dental Service as a Captain, he attended Georgetown University for his Orthodontic Residency, receiving his Masters Degree and writing a thesis which was chosen for the “Thesis Award” by his professors.

He began his orthodontic practice in San Diego in 1971 and is a Board Qualified orthodontist.

He is a past president of the Paul Revere Dental Study Club, theĀ  Neil Brahe San Diego Study Club and the San Diego Orthodontic Study Club.

Dr. Hirsh continues his education in orthodontics and dentistry by attending several seminars a year, study clubs with other dental specialists, and constant monitoring of the advances in orthodontics.

Dr. Hirsh’s philosophy is that creating a new smile is not just dentistry, but it is also an art. He feels he is an artiste of smiles. Dr. Hirsh looks at the teeth themselves as well as the patient’s facial development. He chooses the treatment approach that will improve the smile and facial harmony. Dr. Hirsh treats patients of all ages, and insists that it is never too late to have the smile that represents his patients’ true beauty. Dr. Hirsh treats each patient as if they were his own family.

Dr. Hirsh is not only a smile artist, but he is also a musician. He has been a drummer since age thirteen, Jazz being his specialty.

In addition to keeping busy with making beautiful smiles and music, he has his family to keep him on his toes. Dr. Hirsh and his wife Norma have been married since 1973. They have two daughters, Lauren and Suzanne, and their true joy in life comes from their granddaughter, Ellie.

Dr. Hirsh is a true believer in giving back to the community. Dr. and Norma Hirsh are well known for their work with child abuse organizations as they have dedicated many years in providing children with a better life. Dr. Hirsh has provided child abuse patients with Orthodontic care, to give them a smile they can be proud of. Dr. Hirsh feels by giving them more confidence with a smile, they will also have the confidence to accomplish amazing feats in life. In return, Dr. Hirsh asks these extraordinary patients to one day pay it forward in their communities.
